Fentin, partner in the firm announces the following attorneys have been elected to boards or to different committees on current boards.

Ellen W. Freyman of Longmeadow, MA, Partner at Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, P.C., concentrates her practice in all aspects of commercial real estate and was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick on May 11, 2010 to the award winning Springfield Technical Community College Assistance Corporation (STCCAC) for a term that expires November 1, 2012.  The non-profit organization oversees the economical and environmental operations of Springfield Technical Community College Technology Park.

L. Alexandra Hogan of Chicopee, MA, Associate at Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, was elected in April 2010 to the Board of Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts.  The non-profit is dedicated to providing economic education and financial literacy programs to the youth of western Massachusetts and Vermont.  An upcoming event is the Stock Market Challenge at the MassMutual Center on Thursday, November 4th, 2010.

“I get deep personal satisfaction from my work on the Board of Junior Achievement,” says Hogan.  “I am passionate about the mission:  providing children, especially those who are economically challenged and at-risk, with an education regarding entrepreneurship, economics, work force readiness and financial literacy.”

Attorney Carol Cioe Klyman of Westhampton, MA, who practices in the area of elder law, special needs planning, estate settlement and trust and estates litigation, has been named to the editorial board of the NAELA Journal, which is published by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Attorney Klyman is serving as an articles editor and book editor for the scholarly publication.  The NAELA mission is to establish NAELA members as the premier providers of legal advocacy, guidance and services to enhance the lives of people with special needs and people as they age. Attorney Klyman is a former Vice President and Director for the Massachusetts chapter of NAELA and currently serves as co-chair of the organization’s litigation committee.  She has been a member since 1996.

As of October 22, 2010, Longmeadow, MA resident and Managing Partner, Timothy P. Mulhern will be elected as the new Chairman of the Burke Mountain Academy Board of Trustees.  He has been on the board since 2008. Since 1970, 100 Burke Mountain Academy (BMA) graduates have been members of the US Ski Team or skied on other National Teams resulting in 45 Olympians. BMA is the most successful program of its kind in the US and their college placement record is significant. Since the founding of the school, over 50% of BMA graduates have attended highly selective schools such as Dartmouth, Middlebury and Williams.

In August 2010 Steven J. Schwartz of Longmeadow, MA was elected Executive Vice President of the Western Massachusetts Council, Boy Scouts of America for a two year term.  As one of the largest youth organizations in the US, the BSA’s goal is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities, educational programs and at older age levels, career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations.

David K. Webber of Amherst, MA has been elected to the Professional Advisors Board for the Mason-Wright Foundation of Springfield, MA. Mason-Wright Foundation is a donor supported foundation with more than 100 years of service. The mission is to provide quality housing and daily living services to support the dignity and independence of seniors without regard for their ability to pay.
