Local law firm, Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, P.C., serving Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York, today announced more than 15 members of the firm generously volunteered their time at The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts for the United Way’s annual Day of Caring, on September 9.
“As a firm, we are passionate about giving back to our community,” said Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, P.C. Attorney L. Alexandra Hogan. “By donating our time during United Way’s annual Day of Caring, we are able to make a difference in the lives of those who rely on The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts for food services. We are proud to say that we helped to distribute more than 4,500 pounds of food this year.”
Since 1982, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been feeding people in need and leading the community to end hunger. The food bank distributes food to member agencies in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire Counties. These member agencies, independent pantries, meal sites and shelters provide emergency food assistance throughout the region, playing a crucial role helping families, seniors, individuals and children.
The Day of Caring is the largest day of service in the Pioneer Valley, which brings more than 1,000 people together to complete community service work throughout the region. The Day of Caring was established to promote the spirit of volunteerism, increase awareness of local human service organizations and demonstrate how people working together for the common good can accomplish great things in the community.
