Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Honors Attorney Ellen Freyman with 2016 Excellence in the Law Award

Local law firm, Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, P.C., serving Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York, today announced that Attorney Ellen Freyman is one of only three 2016 Excellence in the Law honorees in the Excellence in Pro Bono category.

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly honors individual attorneys who demonstrate excellence in the legal community and continually go above and beyond in the service of justice. Attorneys are honored in the categories of Up & Coming Lawyers, Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Firm Administration and Operations, Marketing, Paralegal Work and Excellence in Pro Bono.

Attorney Freyman, a resident of Longmeadow, concentrates her practice in all aspects of commercial real estate: acquisitions and sales, development, leasing and financing. She has an extensive land use practice that includes zoning, subdivision, project permitting and environmental matters. Her clients include national telecommunication companies, solar installation developers, developers of affordable housing projects, institutional lenders and business of all types. Attorney Freyman is a graduate of the Western New England University School of Law (1988) and Pennsylvania State University (1977). One of the most highly-awarded attorneys within the Pioneer Valley, she has been recognized or awarded by: the Professional Women’s Chamber (Women of the Year, 2012); Ad Club of Western Massachusetts (Pynchon Award, 2012); Springfield Leadership Institute (Community Service Award, 2011); Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Top Women of Law Award, 2010); the Reminder Publications (Hometown Hero Award, 2010); and BusinessWest Magazine (Difference Makers Award, 2011).

Attorney Freyman maintains board memberships in a multitude of organizations, including: the Hampden County Bar Association; Massachusetts Bar Association; American Bar Association; Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association; Community Music School of Springfield; Dunbar Community Center; Elms College Board of Trustees; Friends of the Homeless; Longmeadow Zoning Board of Appeals; Jewish Family Services of Western Massachusetts; National Conference for Community and Justice; OnBoard, Inc.; Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce; Springfield Museum Association; WFCR Public Radio; World Affairs Council; and the YMCA of Greater Springfield. She is also the immediate past chair of the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield.
