Local law firm, Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, P.C., today announced that shareholder Attorney Steven Weiss has once again been selected for inclusion in the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® for his work in the field of Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law. This marks the 14th consecutive year Weiss has been recognized by Best Lawyers.
In addition, Weiss was honored with the prestigious designation of “Lawyer of the Year” in Springfield for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law. Only a single lawyer in each practice area and community is recognized with this award, making it especially significant.
A resident of Longmeadow, Weiss supervises the firm’s bankruptcy, reorganization and workout practice, representing creditors, debtors and others in both commercial and consumer bankruptcy cases throughout Massachusetts. He has been a member of the standing panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the District of Massachusetts since 1987, currently serves as vice president of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, for which he will become president on October 1st. He is also active in the Hampden County Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Locally, he serves as chair of the Longmeadow Community Preservation Committee and is a member of the Longmeadow Historical Commission.
“Being recognized by Best Lawyers is an honor in itself, but receiving the distinction of Lawyer of the Year from my peers is truly humbling,” said Weiss. “I am grateful to be able to serve my clients and community in a practice that is both challenging and rewarding.”
