Attorney David Webber Taped as Expert Speaker at National Business Institute Seminar

Given the complexity of the probate process, it is important that families work with an attorney who has a strong understanding of the many nuances associated with probate law. Attorney David K. Webber, of Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, P.C., handles probate matters on a routine basis. He spoke recently at a National Business Institute (NBI) seminar designed to provide the latest updates on the probate court procedure. The seminar, the Probate Process from Start to Finish, was held May 7 in Springfield and focused on practical guidance for attorneys trying to build a strong foundation for a probate practice.

“Handling probate from the initial notices through the estate closing can be complicated. From marshaling and valuing estate assets to locating and paying creditors and beneficiaries, there are a number of steps that probate attorneys must take to settle an estate.” said attorney Webber. “This seminar offered practical guidance from experienced attorneys. It was a pleasure to share my knowledge as a panelist for such a prestigious national organization as NBI.”

  • Determining priority of claims
  • Allowing and rejecting claims, and paying them
  • Handing lawsuits against the estate and the decedent
  • Insolvency issues

Attorney David K. Webber concentrates his practice in the areas of closely held business, corporate law, real estate, trusts and estates, and bankruptcy. He has regularly been selected to the Super Lawyers list of Rising Stars for his work with closely held business. Attorney Webber is a graduate of the Western New England University School of Law (2008), where he interned with Justice Francis X. Spina at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and served as note editor of the Western New England Law Review. He holds a B.A. in History from the University of Massachusetts (1999), where he graduated cum laude. He is admitted to practice before the Massachusetts Bar, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the Bureau of Veterans Affairs. Attorney Webber has regularly been selected to the Super Lawyers list of Rising Stars (2012-2014).

Attorney Webber serves his community as Chair of the Town of Amherst Planning Board, and his alma mater as a member of the Advisory Committee for the University of Massachusetts Student Legal Services Office.
